Have been unable to find any report as to whether or not the two (2) wildfires now reported in and around Flagstaff AZ are affecting rail traffic, especially the Amtrak Southwest Chief. Does anyone know, one way or another?
Amtrak website does not report any such adverse “event.”

The closest fire to the rails is the ‘Hardy’ fire and that is a little bit south. The Shultz fire is quite north, north of Mt. Elden.
Does the new catchphrase “wildfire” refer to a forest fire or brush fire or grass fire? I think this new term so overused in the press is not quite specific enough, the “old” terms would suffice.
The current common usage term in firefighting seems to be “wildland fire” which is also a catch-all…
