Flagstaff Vacation Image from 2003

For many of us, myself included, railfanning trips are hard to come by, so we try to turn family vacations into railfanning trips by getting up before the family and heading out. I took this shot on one such occasion, mere steps from the door of my hotel, of a BNSF manifest heading east on the Transcon.

…Nice photo from Flagstaff Charles. Did a lot of automotive test work around Kingman, Az…The {then}, Santa Fe passed right thru that town and I watched as much as possible and I had lots of opportunities to do it and I always thought the Santa Fe looked like a class act with it’s operation and consists that passed thru there.

Kingman is roughly 165 miles west of Flagstaff and roughly 3,500’ elev. lower.

Quinten,

The Transcon through Northern Arizona really is something to see. I need to get there one day for a “railfanning” trip, rather than lucking out on being there for other things that get in the way.
