Flashing crossbucks from Berkshire Junction

Hey everyone, does anyone have the flashing crossbucks from Berkshirejunction.com? If so are they any good? The price didn’t seem to bad looks like it comes with flasher unit and train detection system. Thanks for your comments.

Bruce,
I have the Bershire Junction crossbucks on my BRVRR layout. I have had mine installed for about a year now. No problems whatsoever and the installation was easy. I even have an installation ‘how to’ photo essay posted on my website. The link is in my signature, once on site just pu***he ‘How’d You Do That’ button then on the photo of the railroad crossing.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the info BRVRR thats what i needed to hear i will order some did you go with the Infra red detection or the other? They looked good and simple to setup.

Hey BRVRR just visited your website very nice see you went with infrared thats what i was leaning towards. Very nice installation pictures you have i have to get them now again thanks, i am going to check out more of your website.

Glad to help.

That’s a nice, well designed web site Allan. My only suggestion is to ditch the bright red font on the buttons. It’s hard to read and it makes my eyes hurt.

george,
Like the BRVRR, the website is a work in progress. I have thought of changing the red font on the buttons to black, but they are printed images which I had to scan and load as image files, a work around because of software limitations. To change them is a real hassle because I don’t have a direct editing program. In the next iteration of my site, already in the works, the buttons and several other features will change significantly. I’m still searching for graphics to use in place of the buttons.
Thanks for the compliment on the design.[:I]

Alternative solution: Dalee Flasher-DT. This unit allows you to set the flash rate and the delay before the flasher shuts off, and uses an induction coil as a trigger so all you have to do is pass one of the track feeder wires through the coil and you’re all set. This will only trigger from a locomotive or car that draws power, but the delay feature allows the signals to still flash after the locomotives have left the detection area. All in all, works great, and the Flasher-DT has an output for a motor in case you want to figure out how to make operating crossing gates as well.

I obtained two pair of Berkshire N scale flashing crossbucks, and one of them had an LED that was installed backwards and another had a burnt-out LED. I decided to get the NJ International crossbucks instead - they look MUCH better and have LEDs that face both front and back.
