Flat-car derailed on Fort Hood

Looks like long TTX-type cars, which jack-knifed outwards on a fairly sharp curve (may be a spiral back to tangent at the far end). Report says no injuries or haz-mat released, but at least 1 vehicle caught fire and perhaps tires on some others.

Six cars and cargo jumbled together as shown is pretty impressive for what otherwise seems from the title to be just a typical ‘wheels-on-the-ground’ type of derailment.

Around 2005 a string of flat cars rolled out to the main striking I believe three locos. A number of Abram tanks were damaged.

Look it up.

My oldest daughter lives nearby and is a news reporter.

That’s an awful lot of stacking and jumbling for a switching move…

The Fort Drum runaway covered several miles at speeds (measured) up to 60 MPH, stopping only when the two container-bearing flats ran into some MOW equipment.
