Flat Rate

Hey
i live in AK on a secluded island and shipping rates too me are VERRRRY expensive!!!
your local post office has “Flat Rate Boxes” in 2 sizes and are FREE to anyone.
these boxes can be shipped from anywhere too anywhere no matter how much they weigh for $8.80 (much cheaper)

if i purchased some merchindise and had it delivered too someone in the
LOWER 48 STATES could anyone package these into “flat rate boxes” and ship them too my address?
i will pay for all shipping costs and packing tape

(I may not need your help for a while or ever but i would contact you before i bought anything)

even with me paying for shipping too your house than the $8.80 it is by far cheaper than shipping direct too AK.

thank you for taking the time too read this forum. and please take this into consideration!!
i dont want too drool over trains anymore!! i want it too become a hobby!!!

Super Chicken

Sure would consider that! [}:)][}:)][}:)]

Of course the shipments would only happen once a year, namely on April 1st and certainly before Noon.[;)][:D][:D]

BTW would it be OK to charge you a nominal handling fee??? Let’s say in the range of approx. $12 to 15, depending on the weather.

I use those boxes myself. Aside from the other obvious issues, you can’t fit any G scale locomotives or rolling stock in them. In fact, even diassembled it’s impossible for most.

Maybe Garden HO is in your future? [:p][:p][:p][:)][:)][:)]

Good luck.

Chicken,

If you’re buying or shipping printed material (books, magazines, etc.) ask about shipping “bulk rate.” It’s MUCH cheaper but does take longer to arrive.

At those rates are you plannig to take them there yourself in a canoe? He might as well pay the freight!

No, if he does what is quite common for the population if Iceland -he fetches the mail by snowmobil. I believe the record for crossing the open sea on a snowmobil is around 4Km. When I asked the daughter of a customer in Lilliehameri why she did this she replied -“it’s cheaper than buying a car”.

I consider quite few of my previous Icelandic customers to be borderline insane…

Hi guys,

Since the post was on April 1st I took the liberty to omit the TiC smilies. But I see we can’t do without them.
