Flat Wheel Cafe - VERY late winter edition

Since Bergie has opted to lock the most recent “Flat Wheel Cafe” thread (likely for reasons of it getting a little bit “top heavy” after all this time), let’s start a new one here.

Hey CW, what’s for dinner tonight, I am building up a powerful hunger for some of your good cookin’

Don’t forget the Lounge over here–For some reason it never gets that broken-in appearance!

The CRO Extra Board has been cut in half–the gal I was refamiliarizing last month is hanging on by a thread. I got to work with her today, and she did a decent job. More cuts are coming, though, and if they trim the yard board like they were talking about, she (and a few others) may just be gone anyway.

Work on the new main line (third track) around Proviso might be starting already. I’ve seen an engine moving panel track and ballast cars around, and today I was hearing the two-short horn calls from road engines used for men and equipment near the track. There may be some pilot jobs put on eventually. I’ll probably be able to keep an eye on this project when it finally becomes biking season.

Speaking of biking season–not!–we’re under a winter storm warning for tonight through tomorrow evening. We’ll wake up to an inch or more of snow tomorrow morning, and could get four to eight inches of the stuff before it quits.

I’m wearing this chocolate cake out dragging it from place to place! [|(]

Well Mookie, I guess we will just have to eat some then!!! I’d take a slice! And that dandruff from the sky seems to be non-existant theese days… sunny and wind here the past couple days. I noticed the deer haven’t all shed thier horns though so that is a sign of more winter to come. Right now it’s 35 and the wind blowing about 30 with a pretty chilly bite to it.

MC - Are you putting on the Surveyors conference in SLC this weekend or just attending? A friend mentioned that he was headed down to that this weekend for work. It actually sounded somewhat interesting.

. . .Come to think of it, Some good coffee (high test and un-leaded of course) would be good with that cake.

I’ll take a small cut (southernism) of that cake as well.

PL

I was going to tell Mookie to stop dragging the cake around and start eating it (and offering it to us, too), but RJ beat me to it. It is good, with either milk or coffee.

Yes, we have not sent RJ much snow this week; what we had Tuesday was spotty. (I could say that it was Indian snow, but that might get me into trouble.)

RJ, Ricki and I are considering going up to Ogden on the seventh of March (by Front Runner, of course; we have not yet tried it, and Ricki especially wants to see how it is).

Johnny

Okay everyone, here’s tonight’s Friday Fish Fry menu:

  1. Catfish; 2. Cod; 3. Haddock; 4. Halibut; 5. Perch; 6. Jumbo butterfly shrimp; 7. Deep fried breaded oysters; 8. Scallops

Side dishes: 1. cole slaw; 2. corn on the cob; 3. fries; 4. hush puppies; 5. baked beans; 6. deep fried breaded mushrooms

Desserts: German chocolate cake; apple, cherry and peach cobblers; blueberry and pecan pies.

Johnny, I am planning on heading down Saturday the 7th as well(maybe even Friday night). Erin and I are going to stay with one of her friends that lived in Ogden and then we will probably head to SLC Sunday to do a little shopping then head back to Rock Springs that afternoon I am looking to get into the Photography contest that they offer during the show too, so that requires me to stay and pick up my work on Sunday afternoon too.

I really wish you would send me some white stuff… Looking at my dead lawn is depressing, it looks alot better in green or white! Really, Wyoming just doesnt have the resources to seed the clouds to keep up with what Utah takes out in thier cloud seeding. Guess that leaves more for Nebraska though…

Crumby decor here–and now I know who’s responsible!

Smells good, though!

eau de choc-o-lat - goes with everything!

eau de chocolat…goes with everything!

…Just checking in the new place…It’s half time into our ball game so must get back to it as I hear them playing.

The place must be pretty empty tonight- I’m hearing echoes![:o)]

Up for an EMS call. Going right back to bed.

Might grab a slice of that dishevelled chocolate cake and a glass of milk first, though.

Good Saturday morning everyone. Today is a special day here in the Flat Wheel Cafe: [:-^]Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday Dear Quentin, Happy birthday to you![bday] [bday] [bday] [bday]

Now you all know why we had Thursday Night Pizza Fest instead of Saturday Night Pizza Fest this week!

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are all ready.

On the warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls, country fried steak w/scrambled eggs, hash browns, turkey bacon, sausage, red grapefruit, pineapple slices, hot buttermilk biscuits (homemade, fresh from the oven) w/sausage gravy.

Between noon and 1 p.m. there will be hot dogs for lunch, with onion, pickle relish and the usual ketchup and mustard for the hot dogs. You have your choice of grilled hot dogs, or hot dogs split in half, and ‘fried’.

Then, around 6 p.m., there will be a special Birthday Supper for Quentin. I’ll let you all in on the special menu a little bit later on![swg]

Happy Birthday, Quentin, and may it be a very good/grand day for you!!!

Happy birthday, Quentin. I wish you a happy day and many more birthdays. Paula, thanks for breakfast. At present, 26 degrees and clear in Carolina a few minutes after sunrise. I stayed up with the wireless and had a good time, so now it’s time for bed. Everybody take care, stay warm, and birthday boy, enjoy yourself.

[bday], Quentin!

My…my…early birds in this morning. Yes, this is one of many birthdays we’ve been thru. And we’ll select some hotdogs later too…and look forward to that good meal this evening…

Thanks to all good members with the birthday greetings…Older, but I’m blessed to still be here. So our thanks to all and any others coming in later.

Happy Birthday Quentin - knowing you has meant being able to add another Q word to my vocabulary. Like you, there aren’t many out there. Cheers to a scholar and a gentleman!

Jen

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Quentin!! [bday]

Hope you don’t have to shovel any of that “White Stuff”

that’s supposed to come through today.
