I have little experiance with flex track first of all. I did just buy a couple pieces to practice with and I’ve read that instead of making alot of cuts can I slide the extended rails into the next piece and if I do that would it allow me to, instead of using connectors just solder the track toghether?
Use connectors. They will keep the track lined up better. Without them the ties can melt a little and get out of gauge. On curves, solder before you bend. That will makes smoother curves. Eventually you have to cut, but staggered cuts are smoother, if you can arrange them.
There have been some good threads on this in the last month or ask more questions. Flex it wonderful, but you get better at it as you progress.

I found that once the tracks were connected, soldering the joints made it easier to curve the flex track; this method stopped the track from parting as I laid it out and more to my advantage, gives better continuity than the unsoldered joints.
With a little weathering the solder joins pretty much vanish.
