Flex Track Question

For several years, I’ve been seeing in Trainworld’s ad “Model Power code 100 flex track 100 pc @ $119.99”. I can’t find any details about it ---------

Has anyone had any expirence with it?
Does anyone know the details of it?
Is it brass — nickel silver?
Why is it so cheep?
They are bound to be selling it or they wouln’t keep advertising it. Am looking for a cheep, dependable way for a bunch of hidden trackage.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, John T.

I believe there was a thread a few months past about it. From what I remember it’s nickle silver, it has a closer tie profile than its atlas counterpart and it was stiffer to bend, but held its shape.

I have some older (i.e. brass) MP flex track. It’s rather stiff and holds its shape once bent, as noted above. However, I find it far harder to achieve a smooth curve with it than the more “bendy” flex track like Atlas.

Other than a bit of messing around with it just for kicks, I’ve never actually used the stuff - it came as a “throw in” when I bought an auction lot and I don’t use code 100 (or brass) track. One day I’ll probably tear it up to use it as a carload in a MOW train, scraps laying about the service facility, or something like that.

Walthers site sheds a little light on Model Power Flex Track. They say it is Nickel-Silver, plastic ties. Walthers is selling it at $2.70 per 3’ section.
I believe at one time, long ago and after changing from brass, their rail was made of steel. I have some old M.P. sectional track with steel rail. So I wonder if this is old stock. But then again, Trainworld buys in large qanities and sells at discount prices.

Have you called them?

it’s a good deal, I built my entire layout with the model power flex track minus one box of atlas flex track and have had no problems with it…yes, it is harder to bend than the atlas flex track but that’s a minor detail…in fact i like it stiffer because it holds it’s shape better…just be careful when handling it…the ends of the ties can snap off easier than atlas flex track if you apply too much force to it…chuck

Thanks Guys!

Went and checked the referenced thread (from Feb '06) — somehow missed it that day!
But then some days I wander around in a daze[:D] — what can I say.

That thread and ya’lls comments have ansewered my concerns — again, THANKS!!

By the way cwclark, if you’ll stick your head out the door and look abt 200 miles south, you’ll see me waveing to you!
