In designing a loop layout with inner reverse loops. Which essentially looks like a “D”. I’m in the process of engineering a flip board. So as to not do the crawl under to get to the center of the layout. I figured just go simple. The flip board will be and the end of the yard. So I figure make the yard one separate power district gapping it from the rest of the layout. This “could cut down on reverse loops” although that has not been proven at press time. Curious what other operators have done and what other circumstances this might create. Have fun ! DCC layout btw
I wish I understood what in the world you are talking about? Do you mean a lift up section? It has been done 10,000 times, search it up on Youtube.
Well I tried to come back to the forum and have a nice conversation and break the boredom but rivet counters that have nothing else better to do than be anal retentive ruin it once again by being rude. I’m OUT.!!
Again, what is a flip board? Clearly none of the other people who looked at you post had any idea what you where asking about, so I tried to take a guess?
You know, when you want to talk about a subject you need to learn the relevant terms and you need to explain yourself more clearly when you don’t know the correct terms that others will understand.
I too haven’t got the slightest clue what a “Flip Board” is
Pretty obvious though, that the OP, has pretty thin skin.

Regarding this touchy, back and forth. As a school teacher, when wrong answers were mentioned in class discussion (it’s hard enough to get any student to speak up) I always tried to “cover” for the student. i.e. “that’s a good point, but we need to look for yet another”.
Doug: I too got blasted by two “famous posters”. I vowed to NOT post again. Thin skin?
They were proven wrong, and didn’t know what they were talking about. Jeff actually posted a GCOR page to prove I was correct. In this case ( flip board ) I can see things both sides could have worded differently.
ACR and I have common ground, we PM, about technical stuff. But it probably was embarassing to Greenlantern to “hear” “I wish I understood…talking about?” However if ACR had STARTED with his second sentence and then the third, maybe the come back would not have been so harsh.
As for Greenlantern (I hear ya, been there) the reaction to what seemed disrespect could have been better addressed. IMHO. You wanted a nice chat about the problem you face. You could have mentioned: flip board might be called a lift up section. I will research all the references to lift up sections and see. If they are not what I have, I’ll inquire again here on this thread.

Good points fair enough. My only thought is that part of the problem here is the generational evolution of the language. Older people (like me) generally prefer better traditional grammar, common definitions, clear explanations.
Hard to help when there is communication gap.
Better to be too wordy than to expect others to have the same frame of reference as you.
