Floquil Glaze ???

I have been using Floquil railroad colors for about 20 years and think it is a fine product.

Occaisionally I like to add some clear “glaze” to my engine black to give my steam engines engines a semi-gloss “shopped” look.

I ran out of glaze and my LHS didn’t have any in stcok. They tried to talk me out of using it and said I should try a semigloss clear coat instead.

Any thoughts on which approach is better?

I have used Floquil paints for more than 20 years myself. They must just be out of stock on Glaze because it’s still available at my LHS. I prefer to mix the glaze with the color and thinner to spray it, especially on a surface to be decalled. I personally don’t favor the idea of putting a separate coat of gloss on a model, too many layers of paint starts to hide the details (I work in HO).
