Any one have ideas on modeling spanish moss, yellow pine hammocks, palmettos, cabbage stacks and other scenic details found in and around Florida logging railroads. I grew up in the North Florida pineywoods and am gathering information on the Live Oak, Perry and Gulf Railroad also known as the “Loping Gopher.”
I can’t answer you questions but if you go to Lance Mindheim’s site you will see a great example of modeling.http://www.lancemindheim.com/

I live in Lake Mary, south of CSX’s Rand Yard and the Auto Train terminal, and I have a thought as to how to model spanish moss. If you go back in MR to Dave’s Waterbury Extension project, you’ll see him using a foam material for coal. You should be able to tear off pieces and paint them a grey-green color. Spear them on your branches and you have bona-fide spanish moss. Never tried it myself, as I model Nevada and California, but it seems a reasonably inexpensve and straight-forward process.
