Florida West Coast Railroad Track Plan

The Florida West Coast Railroad was a 13-mile railroad owned by CSF Acquisition, Inc, which acquired it from CSX in 1987. It ran west from a CSX line at Newberry to Trenton and then west to Cross City, with a branch south to Chiefland. All the lines were originally owned by the ACL. In February of 2004, the company to abandoned almost the whole line.I have drawn a fairly large double deck track plan for inspiration for anyone wanting to pursue this gem of a Florida short-line!

Bayline,

Thanks for sharing this here. [Y][8D]

My modeling focus is on the SCL and in looking at this track plan I can already imagine black and yellow U18Bs and Alco RS3s earning their keep staying busy delivering loads and picking up empties on this system. Reminds me of the Plant City area in Hillsborough County where CSX still services local industrial customers, usually with either just a GP38-2 or a GP38-2 paired up with a GP40-2.

Do you currently have a layout with this track plan?

I do not have a layout for this plan, but I am working on a plan to build sometime in the future. You can see it on my other post called Mindheim Fan’s Trackplan. Do you currently have an SCL layout? I’d love to see it!

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

I started a shelf layout that goes around 3 walls a few years ago and have been building it very slowly since I’ve been concentrating on metalizing my passenger car fleet. I hope to make more progress on later this year after I’ve finished hopping up the majority of my passenger cars.

I currently have several P2K, Atlas, and Athearn SCL units. I have one Intermountain SCL U18B. I regret not buying at least one SCL F7 when Intermountain produced them, so I’ll just have to keep an eye out for one on ebay.
