Chromed valve handles?
Among the thousands, maybe more than 10,000, counting the tramp (run-thru) locomotives, I Never saw a chromed valve handle…
Really? Roanoke built those engines when so equipped for trips, besides hauling trains, for Mechanical dept’s egos.

There are two types of chrome: the shiny ‘hot rod type of chrome’ which everyone associates with; duller hard chrome applied to wear surfaces that can be machined and renewed, think industrial rollers. Suspect the parts were given a renewal application of this industrial type chrome.

Look forward to 2015, please advertise the steam excursions. Would be worth seeing at least.
