Flying Scotsman

Today’s e-newsletter from MTH announces the production of a Premier ‘Flying Scotsman’ - in several liveries - expected to be featured in their April catalog. Not that I could afford it, but I’m sure it’ll be a fine model - intrigued by how it’ll match up with the Sunset Models / 3rd Rail version.

I’ll wait for Lionel to make one. In LNER livery.

The “down” side for me on the European stuff from MTH is they announced that the scale will be 1/43 instead of 1/48. They said 1/43 scale is the popular “O” scale in Europe. So it is a good decision by MTH to expand into the European market - but for me, I would have liked the trains to fit in well with my current North American O gauge.

I think they will find that the continental Europeans want 1/45.

It would be nice to have, but until their engines will run without a battery, they are off my engine list. The cars now; that might be worth looking at.

I might try to scrape the money together to purchase one

I don’t mind if it’s 1/43 or 1/45/. I have never considered buying a Premier steam engine, but this one particular engine gets my juices flowing. I am seriously interested in this one, even if I have to put it on the mantle until I build a bigger layout.
