A recent post discusses a foam board set of downtown buildings. I have a basic couple of questions concerning foam board construction: What is the appropriate glue or cement for foam board? How is a corner formed, such as a right angle corner of a building? Do you mitre the corners on 45 degrees or do you cut back the foam core and sort of rabit the corners? Or are corners butted? Which glue for gluing foam or the paper facing? Can you use a spray adhesive or attaching brick paper or paper shingles? Everyone has been so helpful in the past; so thank you in advance. Cheers,
On the facing, you can use any adhesive that you would with card stock. If you want, hot melt works too.
The foam core will be disolved by solvent based adhesives - such as most spray on types.
Corners - different people use different techniques, give each a try and see what works for you. If you are covering it up with brick paper or similar, I’d just use a butt joint. A corner rienforcement doesn’t hurt either, like ¼" square balsa.
