Foam Construction?

I usually use hot glue and insulation foam, it works great. But I am overseas now and seems I can only get light pink styrofoam and it melts with hot glue. How do you cut and glue this stuff?

Bob - Any kind of glue that doesn’t attack the foam should do. I don’t know what’s available to you, but Elmer’s wood glue, some flavors of Liquid Nails, etc., etc have all been used.

I have had good luck gluing intermediate pieces of good quality cardboard ( Bristol Board, Strathmore, or mat board ), between layers of foam, or between foam and other materials…Hot glue does its’ greatest harm to the foam when it’s at its’ hottest, so the trick is to let the hot glue cool on the cardboard very slightly, maybe 6 to 10 seconds, before pressing against the foam.Don’t get the glue too thick or ‘blobby’ and you will get quite a strong joint.
Good Luck.

If you can try to use liquid nails,pl400 or something to that area.Diffrent grades of liquid nails are available i use one for mounting accoustic baffles(foam really) at work and i have had great success with it as well my father use’s the same stuff! But i am not sure what is available over seas so good old reliable wood glue will do the trick.
