Foam insulation board ?

I just purcahsed a bunch of foam insulation board for my layout. However, it has a metalic looking film over it on one side and a clear plastic film on the other side. Do I remove this film or leave it on the board? I have 1" board. Thanks for your help!

Yes remove teh clear plastic coating. Carefully.

I am not sure how easy it is IF it is at all to remove the foil.

I use the blue extruded foam from Lowes without any coating. The pink extruded from Home Depot is about the same stuff as the blue.

They have a version that doesn’t have any foil or plastic on it. I would do foil down and remove the plastic if you cant return it for the other stuff.

The blue foam I purchased at Lowes had plastic on both sides which I peeled off before gluing.

Sounds to me like you bought the white beaded type foam. I used some on a different project and had to peel the clear plastic off. Was really a pain as it tore off in strips. This foam is a real hassle to cut and really makes a mess.

If possible, I would return it and get either the blue or pink extruded foam.

Here’s the foam I used from Home depot:
