Foam Risers…hm… Are they a good product?
And do they make them in a S gauge size?
whats the price like?

I’ve only seen them on my friends layout and he ssays they’re great.

Check the woodland scenic web site (http://www.woodlandscenics.com/) under their sub terrain system. I’ve never used them, don’t know anyone who did, but this would be a good start I guess. Not sure if they make it in S scale though.

I’ve used them in N-scale.

I will admit that I am not a big fan of Woodland Scenics over-priced line of products, but this system is one of those unique products that worked very well. If you are not a craftsman that can make your own ramps that are perfectly aligned at a steady grade, then this product is a no-brainer.

However, I’m not sure about how it would fit for your scale. I’ve only seen it used on N and HO layouts. I’d check it out at a hobby store first to see if it’s wide enough.

I used them for a grade on my layout and they worked great for me. I don’t know if the make them in S scale either, I’m in HO scale.

I’ve used them on my three raillayout with very good results. Hoverver i found that i had to use a subroadbed of 1/8th inch masionite. THis was due to the fact that i need a strong surface to mount my flextrack. ASide from the cost it was a great system. Happy Bill

I use them and like 'em.

S scale is not that much larger than HO(?), so you might could get away with using the risers with S scale track. If not, you could run the risers side by side, this would double the width. BUT this would also double the cost.
I’ve never modeled S scale, or even held a peice of S scale track, so I’m not sure of the dimensions. But if you
look at this picture from my layout, you’ll
notice that the HO track does not take up the entire surface of the riser. I also use AMI instant roadbed, which is wider than cork. So if you use cork the S scale might fit. I would ask my LHS to let me test fit a peice. If they refuse, buy a set of 1" risers and try it. If it doesn’t fit, the risers make a good base for a road or highway. Dave
