Hi folks,
Living along the Gulf coast means thick foam (anything beyond ¾” stuff) is about as common as a unicorn but I have found a source. It seems the manufacturers of the pink stuff use 2x4s made of foam to separate every ten sheets or so in a stack of the thinner foam sheets. I have already bribed the guy in an apron here in ’s Home Depot so he’ll alert me when a new shipment of ¾” foam arrives and he hides the 4 foot long separators for me to pick up. Those 2x4’s are not always clean and they often have some packing glue on one surface but if you are looking for hill material no one handles in the South, you might want to check out the separators in a big box store…. They just throw them away otherwise
Thanks for the tip Roy, will have to see if my local HD does the same.
I get my 4 X 8 foot sheets of blue foam styro board in Corpus Christi from a roofing contractor, HAEBER ROOFING.
Here is some of my foam layout surface which did not glue down the way I wanted it. First picture shows where it came up, with arrow. So I re-glued and weighted it with a 12,000 year old fossilized mammoth thighbone. Mammoth bones are much more common than uncorns in Corpus Christi.

Speaking of materials, I get 4x8 sheets of styrene from A&B Plastics, out in the industrial area. Going out there is an excuse to drive by the Texas Mexican Rwy tracks and the junkyards. I cut the 48 inch wide sheets into 16 inch tall strips for background.
