I only need 5 sections of 1 3/4" FasTrack to complete my layout and apparently I have bought out every train store in the Lehigh Valley. Is anyone else having a problem getting thier hands on this particular section of track?
This situation is very similar to the shortage of the Lionel Truss Bridge with Flashers a few months ago. The shipment from China wasn’t in yet, and no stores could get thier hands on the item. The boat must have arrived recently since I counted no fewer than 7 on shelves around the Lehigh Valley today.
I wonder if this is a sign that interest in model trains is starting to pick back up again. I can understand Lionel and other manufacturers not wanting to get stuck with too much rolling stock and other merchandise that won’t sell, but things like track and bridges will always be needed. Hopefully they will start increasing their production to meet greater demand.

Lionel says their sales are up 40% in the last 2 years. The idea was also featured on an ABC news program recently. Check out the clip at Lionel’s webpage. I would think our local store would have them, here in Lansdale.
Wow! Was this one Penn State fan helping out another? Would this have happened if SK went to Pitt? [;)]

Good for you. Way to help out a fellow forumite! After some of the other tripe that has been posted recently, I am glad to see something like this. By the way, I have been looking to get some odds and ends from various manufacturers (Lionel, MTH, Atlas) and my local stores are out with many items on backorder. I would think that this situation is systematic of the time of year.
