Atlas is finally going to produce the RS-36 (and RS-32):
Thats great news !!! I love Alco’s of any shape or form or horsepower. Cool beans .

That’s one pretty locomotive.
They had better produce some ALCos in N scale…The HO people can’t have all the fun.[;)]
Odd … I thought there would be more enthusiasm to the announcement. This is the third post regarding the new Atlas release and all three have gotten minimum response !?!
Mark.
i would like it better if it was century 424 plus i think they want to much for it but thats just me
I love ALCo’s…it’s just that, well, my road didn’t.
Well it’s a great looking model. But not a alco fan here. I’m an EMD kind a guy. lol
I thought there’d be more interest as well, we’ve been asking for this one every since the original RS-11 was released!
Well I’ll be buying at least a dozen![:D] (my customers and friends are going to want them in every D&H paint scheme).
A great looking loco. Maybe I must buy a SP version to have on my D&RGW layout. Is this the loco they used to call alligator because of the long nose?
Atlas seems to release lots of nice locos. But I can’t remember the last time KATO released a HO scale loco.
The alligators were the RSD-15s and were 6-axle units. The RS-32s were used extensively in the San Francisco Bay area, the northern part of the Central Valley, and along the coast route to LA.
You know I think that’s exactly the engine I need for my sawmill. Excellent.
Cheers!

Great news from Atlas!!! I have wanted an RS 36 for many years.I had even gone so far as to take an Atlas RS 11 and begin to change it to an RS 36.I got so far as to chop the short hood. Glad I didn’t start on the long hood yet.Now I will finish it as a D&H low hood RS 11.
GREAT JOB, ATLAS!!!
I’m an Alco fan, but there are two problems:
- The Bunter Ridge Southwestern is set in 1958, a few years before the RS36, and,
- It is in N-scale.
Aside from my own woes, it is good to see that something different is being released…and an Alco, to boot.
