FOR NEW PEOPLE

There is a series of books from Kalmbach on BEGINNER TRAINS. Wiring, Benchwork, Painting, Detail etc. They are around $20.00 each and worth the money. I have been playing this silly game since 1953 and I have bought the set just to see what is the modern way of doing things. Worth the money.
Gee when did the come out with this battery operated tool stuff and a power drill, I used a brace and bit! LOL[:D]

I’ve used a brace and bit too…and I’m not laughing. Those things sure built up muscles in a young fellow. My dad didn’t have any power tools back in the 40s and 50s, so I learned on his hand tools–brace and bit (those big spiral bits sure dug into the wood fast), “eggbeater drill” (still got that one and use it for making holes in drywall for anchors to hang things–wish I had kept his brace and bit too), hand planes, a hammer and screwdrivers that raised blisters after the 50th. screw. Still got a lot of his hand tools. Hope my kids hang onto them after I go. But, I wouldn’t give up my collection of power tools for anything.
