There is a bunch of these on Ebay for sale. Can anyone tell me why these locos are so much. Are they that rare??? Go to HO trains, and click on HIGHEST FIRST.

I think it would be cheaper to buy a real one.

I think Ebay is broken.

if you look at the photo showing the underside of the engine you can see part of someone’s thumb . either that is a very tiny person or that’s not an HO model

still doesn’t explain the price . i suspect it’s a rather old model , perhaps of some historical signifigance to marklin collectors

This might be one of those “One of a Kind” models that were stolen from the Marklin museum earlier this year – I wonder if the owners of Marklin or members of Interpol are watching e-Bay?

One thing I can read in the listing is 110cm that = 43.3071 inches! That would me this is like G gauge I think. Because this loco is like 3.7 foot long. Just what I can help with. Baker

That stuff in that condition is so rare its scarry (looking at the whole collection) some dates from wwI and before and includes alot of bing. Looks like the one loco is live steam, and the dreadnaughts at least have been though two world wars, maybe in germany. Any collectors out there than can give details?

It’s a Dampflok that’s “EXTRAGROSS.” That’s what makes it so valuable.

Don’t forget there is also a buyers premium you have to pay, which is an additional 21%… and then there is shipping!!

The seller claims that it is unique, hand lacquered, tender 43 inches long, line voltage power (probably 230 volts) etc.
Still, it’s way out of my price range.

If I remember right, Marklin created the idea of naming their different gauge trains, gauge 1, gauge 2 and gauge 3 from smallest to largest. When they came out with an even tinier size train, they had to call it “zero” gauge, which is where we got “O gauge” from. No.1 gauge track is what LGB uses. I suspect this is no.2 or no.3 given the size…which means it is very big and very rare, since they quit making that in maybe the twenties at the latest.

ooh, ooh, ooh! I’ve been looking for one of these! I am prepared to go up to $75,000-80,000, maby even 90,000.! Thanks for alerting me![:P][;)][yeah]
