Exactly what is it you’re trying to show us?

Trying to show some awesome photos by a guy by the name of Michael Paul Smith.

on Michael Paul Smith’s photo stream on flickr

Try the copy and paste, that seems to work. This guy’s photography of his model cars and scenery is awesome!

Just copy and paste, then click on any photo in his flickr photo displays

Great photography and amazing detail!

You would swear it’s real!

One of the pictures shows how he created the inside details of a diner.

Just awesome!

The link I have in my email works fine.

reproduced it here, and it won’t work , but the copy and paste gets you thre

I guess Trains.com doesn’t work with flickr

But if you copy and paste this, it will take you there

http://www.flickr.com/photos/24796741@N05/

Then click on the link Michael Paul Smith’s photostream

This made the rounds a couple of months ago. Nice work, all static commercial auto models on well done dioramas.

I get nothing when I click on the link, it just reverts to the Trains.forum.

I had the same problem. If you copy and paste the link into your address bar not highlighted, it takes you to

Michael Paul Smith’s flickr page

I just did the copy/paste 4 different times, and just get a search page like Google’s showing search results for Flickr, but no specific page.

Does this work better? http://www.flickr.com/photos/24796741@N05/

I think there are at least three threads on these forums talking about these wondferful photos and dioramas, and several non model railroader types have also sent it to me – clearly it has become wildly popular and deservedly so. As I commented in one of those other threads - look closely at the photos (which are expertly lit and focused) and you’ll notice that while the autos are beautifully detailed and painted, the structures and streets themselves are rather simple yet look extremely detailed – because he didn’t overdo it. All it takes is one crude looking fire hydrant or sloppy job building a curb and the realism would be lost. The lesson might well be that overdoing the details can destroy the realism.

Every one of those cars is either Franklin Mint or Danbury Mint and come as seen in those pictures. My dad actually has most of them. Those pictures show off that guy’s photography talents. He constructed a couple of small scenes and just knows how to place them and photograph them very well. His overall modelling however isn’t anything that is terribly unusual and there are many out there, and probably here, that are just as good and possibly better. I’m not trying to insult his work in any way. It looks magnificent. Just don’t fall into the trap of believing that he built and detailed every little thing in those pictures. He didn’t. I think that’s the first thing that many people believe.

Yep, that works. Very nice!
