being that my job is currently in northern Alberta and home is in a camp my anxiety has greatly increased. Every five weeks there is a short one week reprieve when a 5 hour airplane ride takes me home again. Arrival in the apartment is usually 2:00am, freight train activity on the layout is 2:02am-RELIEF. Ladies and Gentlemen of this great forum, it is a great delight reading, watching and corresponding with all of you but nothing beats hands on. Sooo looking forward to this Sunday morning at 2:02am.
really looking forward to going home and letting the first set of engines pull the freight. Also contemplating a purchase of grain hoppers and gondolas.
If the era is right, pick up a few Jordan vehicle kits. Bring some tools, glue and paint with you. (In checked luggage. Airport security will otherwise decide that you plan to use the tweezers and glue in some evil plot aimed at world domination.) Anyway, they are nice self-contained kits, very small, and a nice way to spend an evening or two.
I built my entire logging camp on a 1x3 foot table in my motorhome with tools in a small tackle box while away for two months. It kept me sane on the trip and was fun to install when I got home.
I told you to do a “Rod Stewart”, and take a kit with you to the northern oil fields of Alberta. But, NOOOOOOO! Next trip out west, heed my advice, and others. Take the train (with you, to work on!).
I’ve got some grain cars you can have. A little pay back time.
as a kid I recall the layout my dad mad, Lionel 3 rail, after school I would be slamming trains around.
Today thats not the case, making dinner and rest a bit and I hit the forums and net check here and reply whatever or post something.
Not really much of a layout but its a planned work in progress with a test loop(s) to work on equipment. I have made progress and now the urge to get more of the real layout is hitting me.
