Forest of deciduous trees

The price is right! Walthers has a sale on Value Pack of Scenic Express Super Trees. $98.00 for a case of some 420 trees. I ordered a gallon of Matte Medium 4:1 mix. On opening the box, one should lift the foliage carefully and invert it to reveal the radial packed trunks of Super Trees. I filled a 3 Lb coffee can with the diluted Matte Medium and using my fingers, dunked three trees at a time. Matte Medium makes the fine branches less brittle. The trunks of supe3r tree are too thin and are of the wrong color. For foreground trees I like to use sage. which can be sawed off with a razor saw to about an inch in length, and then while holding the inch piece with a pliers, I drill a central hole through the sage cylinder the size of the Super Tree trunk, and glue the Super Tree trunk into the hole. I had a bag filled with dark green fine turf foam. I sprayed adhesive onto the trees within a box), then shook the trees in a bag of dark fine foam. I then resprayed three trees at a time with adhesive and shook the trees in a box of medium green foam. Finally, I resprayed the tree and sprinkled on light green foam, (where the leaves would be most exposed to sunlight) Due to the huge quantity of trees, I just tossed the finished trees into a huge cardboard box and let them dry. To plant the trees. I first drill many holes of proper size and then vacuum the white plaster powder. I then spray the area with a mix of forest floor colors, and apply a dab of white glue, before inserting the stained tree trunks. Finally, one can apply broken tree branches and bush-like clumps of varied colored green foam,or bits of untreated Super Tree foliage. One can fill in spaces between trees, or on steep mountainsides with clumps of green foam to represent a dense forest., of various green coloration. Bob Hahn

Super trees are great aren’t they? I made a video tutorial of them myself; however, I’d recommend walmart gray spray paint ($1.09 per can)

I love Super Trees also, they just look good even if they’re on the labor intensive side. Got any photos, Bob?
