Former tourist railroad treasurer pleads guilty to theft

I hope he is able to pay it back.

As to Mr. Krause: “…Krause apologized to the court, his family, and the railroad. He said he is currently on disability, but fully intends to pay back every penny he owes. “I offer no excuse,” he said. “I’ve accepted what I’ve done and am ready to accept the consequences…”
You can bet he was most sorry that he finally got caught. Nothing anymore repentant than a criminal before a judge… I hope that this Tourist Line can recover,

This kind of money means an awful lot to a small operation like the WK&S. Maybe the judge could have less sympathy for Krause and garnish a chunk of his disability check. As for the railroad- go ride with them! That’s the best way to help them recover. It’s a really nice train ride with very nice people. It’s in a very pretty area- I encourage people to explore some of the dirt roads over the mountain- excellent views.

At least the skunk got caught! As Mr. Erena said, the best way to help is with a train ride! Wonder if they’re a not-for-profit corporation for deduction of gift donations? If so, “Tis the Season.”

Most board of directors in Non-Profit are well meaning volunteers who do not have the buisness background to understand how to set up internal controls, have periodic accounting reviews or (if large sums flow–an audit). I am treasurer of a non-profit trolley museum operation and had to beg my board to arrange accounting reviews as a matter of good policy.

Disability and Social Security payments cannot be garnished, not even for backowed child support much less a criminal or civil matter.
