Thanks for the quote of 1494. That dude was pretty smart. And to this day his quote has proven to be true. regards mike endmrw0628251407

In the automotive setting - I find Rain-X superior to wipers with every kind of rain short of the ‘Florida Frog Drowning’ intensity.

I had a '94 ¾-ton diesel Suburban that developed the chronic wiper-motor failure problem. I was one of the ones who traced it to stiff leads and crappy soft solder, but in the meantime you’d have no idea when the wipers would suddenly stop working or fail to come on.

I used glass stripper followed by the old small-bottle rub-on Rain-X, and put the dilute solution in the washer bottle. At 92mph in a thunderstorm you could see well enough out of the windshield – the water would sheet to nearly optically clear and run off in the slipstream. I didn’t really miss mechanical wipers too badly most of the time…

Driving at 92 mph in a thunderstorm, you should have had your license taken away and a mandated psych eval!!

I was younger and dumber. And there was stuff passing me on I-81!

Must not have been puddling on the roadway - 92 MPH is about 40 MPH over hydroplaning speed with good tires - with tires approaching the wear bars it becomes Spin City.

These were 245 tread on 19.5 alloys, very deep tread, almost brand new. On the other hand, it was 4WD without hub locks.
