Forum Location

I was away from the forums for a couple of weeks. I no longer see the forums on the trains.com website. I was only able to find the forum by doing a google search. (http://cc.trains.com) I don’t see any posts relating to this. Did I miss something or is there some setting on my PC that must be set in order to see the forum on the trains website. Thanks rluke

Rich:

Under the left side of the header: look for heading Our Magazine, click on it and pull down menues will say FORUMS & BLOGS, click there, and you should find FORUM,

Once on TRAINS FORUM you could save that as a Favorite.

If still having problems PM me,and I’ll Try to help

samfp1943 Thank you for the response. That was very helpful. I used to see the forums on the homepage of the trains.com site. I also notice that most of the posts are now showing in a very small font. Has that also been the result of a change in this site? Thanks again

If you scroll to the bottom of the page and find “Community” on the right in a column, click on that, and find the forums index page for all the forums.

Crandell That also works well. Thank you. I am still looking for a way to increase the font on these posts. Most of them are so small that I have a hard time seeing them. Rluke

Unfortunatly, we cannot see what you see… it could be you are seeing the exact same thing I do or it may be smaller (or even larger!)

To try to get a feel for what you are seeing, how many lines of text are in the sentence below and, assumming it is more than one, at which point did it automatically split the lline?

word01 word02 word03 word04 word05 word06 word07 word08 word09 word10 word11 word12 word13 word14 word15 word16 word17 word18 word19 word20 word21 word22 word23 word24 word25 word26 word27 word28 word29 word30 word31 word32 word33 word34 word35 word36 word37 word38 word39 word40

When I wrote it, it split at 12, 24 and 36, but it might splits differently when posted.

What browser are you using? Each one has some method of altering the font sizes and you might be able to set your browser to enlarge it (or maybe it got set to be smaller and you need to undo that!)

If you are using Internet Explorer 9 there is a “cogwheel” looking icon in the upper right corner, which if you click on it you will see a menu with the word “ZOOM (100%)”… Does your’s read “100%”? Unfortunately this tool will change the size of everything on the page so if you have a narrow screen it may shove some of the page off the edges and require you to scroll left and right to read a page. I think there are other things that can be done, but I can’t remember them right now. If what I have said here doesn’t help let us know and maybe someone will have a good answer before I can go huntin’ for what I only think is available.

EDIT: after posting I see the sentence split at words 10, 20, & 30.

I was wondering if there was some sort of link to all of the Trains.com forums from the homepage, though it isn’t quite as easy or as obvious as the “forums” frame that used to be on the home page. My work-around was to bookmark the all-forum index.

Thanks for the info,

  • Erik

Also, if you look to the right side of this page where your avatar and screen name are shown, click on the “(Edit)” link and on that page you can set your default font size. I have mine set on “large.” It makes it easier for me on my laptop screen.

HEY! That’s NICE! Thanks! [tup]

There is always somebody around that knows a better way! [8D]

Might I make a suggestion for a system that works for me.

My system is a Windows Vista application [w/Mozilla-Firefox].### I have found that by pressing the 'cntrl’ key. While simultaneously, pressing the ± [Plus over minus] key I can increase the size of the print on the page I am currently viewing.
