Forum needs improvement

Why when you post a new topic, does the forum kick you all the way out and you have to re-enter to where you posted the topic?

Gary[soapbox]

I haven’t had that problem. It doesn’t do it to me.

I haven’t had that problem.

Funny, when I post or ad a new topic it backs me out to the list of all the other forums, trains, model railroader, etc, etc.

Gary

It does that to me, too. [%-)][%-)][%-)] I just put an icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the screen that I can easily click to take me back to this forum.

I could be wrong on this but when you sign in, there is a box to remember your username and password. Otherwise it will boot you!

Butleryard!

Butleryard,
Your right, when you sign on, there is a box to remember your username and password, but if you are already signed on, you can use an icon you make in the tray at the bottom of your screen to jump from one page to another or even from one TRAINS.COM forum to another. [8D][8D][8D] It’s magic!! (No not really it is html code.)

Here’s another little secret:

Try this. (It works with MS XP, I don’t know if it will work with anything else.)
Double click the username box. If your username appears, select your username and the password should show up in the next box. Click on login and your in. [:D][:D][:D]

SInce there are several different screens where one can log in, you will need to provide your username there once and it is supposed to remember it.

I have this problem too. BTW, It remembers me when I sign in.

In the infamous words of Paul Hornung " I wish I’d have said that!"

Guys, I don’t.

Hi Big Jim,

Are you using MSN internet explorer?

tom

This site requires you to log in when you access it from a computer other than the one you used the last time you visited, even if the “remember me” check box is checked. If you always visit it from the same computer, then it will always remember you.

Tony

I like this forum and am so happy that it is still free and CTT hasn’t succumbed to trying to make a fast buck off of it.

My only suggestion would be to try to compress down all of the headings, menues, and verbiage at the top of the page so that we can see more posts on each page.

Thx CTT

Yes, Elliot mentioned one time about trying to get them to put things in folders so we could see more topics [simular to MR forum]. That would be the only big improvement I see. I love this forum.

Spanky,
Only if it does it through my AOL connection. Another pain is all the backpaging that I sometimes have to do after replying to a post, just to get back to the main page.

HI Jim,

I believe the problem you are having is thru AOL. It seems this forum is designed for MSN explorer. I not saying you have anything wrong with AOL, it’s just the design of the forum software.

After you do your posting, ignore the message to close the window, see if it takes you back to the thread that you posted to. Mine does.

Then try clicking on the file folder at the top or bottom of the thread, instead of the back key.

Hope this helps

tom

When I have my cookies protection turned off and after I have posted a reply, the forum returns to a different location compared to when the cookies protection is turned on. Hmmmm…

When at Hotel in Orlando, I had to refre***o see the latest posts and do the same to see the response I posted. Everytime I changed a page, I had to hit refresh. I figured that the computer did not recognize the cookies. I have my computer to block cookies except on certain sites [this is one it acdepts].

I’m also using AOL and use the same method as spankybird after posting. As to going back to the topics list after reading the posts I use the back button on the tool bar.

When I started on this forum over a year ago now (!), this forum had more than one “folder” as everyone’s putting it. There wasn’t enough traffic in the others to justify keeping them up. In fact, there was a TMCC folder that had 2 posts. The first read “How does TMCC work?;” the reply said only, “It doesn’t”

Tony

vitabile Tony,

Answer is the traffic has increased since the $18.00 fee. TMCC works if you want it to.
