I’ve read quite a few e-mails telling of problems encountered on this new version of the forum. I’ve had my share of difficulties with it myself. Perhaps a polite posting here of what issues you are having will facilitate a solution. I’m on a Mac using Explorer and cannot seem to post photos, quotes, or emoticons. I know, I need to switch to Safari. Anyone else care to vent in a civilized manner? Jim
Jim, I’m also on a Mac with all current upgrades and I am suffering through the same situation. Safari is a very good browser and it’s what I use, it won’t work either. I did download Firefox and it shows the smiley’s but won’t post them, posting pics was also not an option. What I don’t understand is why I can post on any other forum that I frequent and I don’t have any problems what so ever. I do hope the IT guys at CTT will find the solution so we can continue to enjoy the forum. Jon
I’m using a pc and the firefox browser and cannot post photos any more…tony
I’m surprised that more people haven’t posted to this thread. I’ve heard a lot of complaining off-line and thought this would be a better place to vent than sending e-mails to CTT staff members that have their hands full with a magazine to put out. Jim
It isn’t just a Mac issue. Stuff doesn’t work well with FireFox on Windows XP, SP-2. I can’t get links to behave on either platform. Not accepting html code also seems lame. Oh well.[:(]
Hey guys, I’m on a Mac and I can’t see the stuff either. Our IS people told Rene at Garden Railways that Firefox is the browser for Mac persons to use.
Sorry Bob, that’s just not true. Firefox is NOT the answer, I’ve downloaded it twice and it will not work any better than Safarai or IE. The problem is your IS, period. They need to get their act together and fix the problem, you are paying them good money and they are not providing the goods. I’d best sign off before I say what I really want to say. Jon
I never said Firefox was the answer. I said our IS people said it was. I don’t know anything about programming. I don’t know anything about how the website works, half the stuff I’ve been told about forum operation is wrong, nor do I have a way to fix it. All I can say is that I pass the info along to those who do.
I posted this the other day concerning another topic, maybe it was photos, but it might be more applicable here.
I’m still seeing a different font for Item No. 3. I have tried using the font command and it doesn’t change anything.
I guess I’m complaining about the fact that I’ve no complaints. I feel left out! [:O][;)]
Serioiusly, I use a PC with Firefox. So far, I’ve had no problems posting pictures or anything I usually do such as edit, quote, etc. I do miss the smiley pictures but I follow the descriptions without any problem. In all, I’m happy with the software.
I can’t seem to make the search do anything that makes sense. With the same search specification, it sometimes finds nothing, sometimes finds astronomical numbers of posts with no hits in them.

I thought it was just me. Bob, this is the second time that you and I are seeing the same thing. The first one was the wiggling icons, which I guess is what we are supposed to see.
Bob, I’ve had some crazy things happen off and on. The delete thing went wild the other night but then finally worked. I think we all understand that it is not you. We do appreciate you passing the problems on to Customer Service and IS. We all salute you in the way you have helped us now and in the pass. I will definately say I get ill at tehe software but it “wears off”. I have to disable the cookie/popup blocker each time I reply but I have now learned to hold the control key down until the reply box comes up. A little adjusting. I do know there is a LOT of conversationa bout poting pictures and MAC problems. Thanks for your concerns and help. We use you to “beat up” on IS.[;)]
For what it’s worth: I’m using Netscape at the office (PC/Windows) and Netscape at home (Mac). No real problem with access to the various features in either place except that page-loading is ridiculously slow here at home, where I’m on a dial-ip. I know that dial-up connections are from the stone age, but the majority of computer users still access the Internet in that way.
The problem with today’s Web designers is that they tend to go more for form over function, and want to incorporate all the whiz-bang graphics and features that simply slow things down for those of us at the user end.
We launched an extensively redesigned website at the university where I’m employed on Monday of this week, and I have the same problem with it at home–slow loading pages. Not a terribly good thing since I’m responsible for updating news items and the like on those pages and simply waste time waiting for things to load (if I’m doing the work from home).
My profile page no longer shows me the last posts I’ve made or started. I miss that feature. Jim
So you couldn’t find it either?
“…where I’m on a dial-ip. I know that dial-up connections are from the stone age, but the majority of computer users still access the Internet in that way.”
Nope - not any longer…
"A whopping 62 percent of users surveyed reported getting to cyberspace via high-speed connection, while 34 percent said they still used analog modems — ".
In a news item dated 6/24/2006 - the latest PEW poll showed the above…Dialup is the clear minority now. DSL via phone lines has hastened dialups end as you use existing phone lines within the home so you don’t need cable nor satellite. I live 6 miles outside of town in the country and I am on DSL provided by a rather small phone company in the Midwest…HiSpeed is just about everywhere. My monthly hi speed cost is $26.00 and the company pays for it…Download speed is about 1 - 1.5 meg per second…
Not sure I am seeing the problems… I’m using Windows 2000 and Firefox 1.5.0.4
Here’s a posted picture from Shutter Fly:
Here are a couple smilies (make sure you have “Enable Emoticons” checked as “Yes” in your user profile):

I’ve edited posts from the previous day.
Buckeye and jaabat, if you click on your name in this topic, the forum will display, in part, “Posts by Buckey Riveter” (or jaabat). Hope this helps.
Thanks, Wayne. I found it right under my name in the profile. Jim
