I have used the search function on the forum many times, but it does not seem to be working correctly right now. I had noticed a few folks recently comment that they had not been able to find what they were looking for, so I have been trying it out. Something has changed and the forum search is essentially useless right now.
For example, I used MTH as the search term. I asked for the search to be over the last year, from the subject only and exact phrase from only the Model RR general forum.
The result retunred 49 pages! none of the subjects returned on the first 5 pages had MTH in them. I tried other search terms with equally useless returns.
I’ve had very bad luck with it also. Either I’m clueless, or it behaves different than every other type of “search” command I’ve used in any other software I use.
I have not had acceptable results, either…ever. Maybe Bergie should look into this.
I agree, it used to be much better, but that was many months ago. It has become a very watered down version of it’s former self. you kind of have to play with it and trick it into finding what you want. Of course this only works when you have a pretty good idea fo what you are looking for. Blind searches generally result in garbage anymore.
I found it pretty useless too the few times I tried it. I tried to narrow the search to just the Subject, but kept on getting pages of Coffee Shop posts which had nothing to do with the subject I was searching. A waste of time, so I don’t bother anymore.
