On the weekend of June 18th, my original plans for that weekend had gotten canceled. So, rather than cancel my time off from work that Friday and Monday, I decided to keep the 4-day weekend and make a bit of a road trip. I first headed up to Cleveland to visit the Christmas Story house and the USS Cod. I had missed getting to see both of them last summer when I was up that way since I didn’t have directions and had been wanting to go back up to see them since.
On the way back from Cleveland on I-71, I detoured west on US 224 to Tiffin, drove around the Heidelberg campus (graduated from there 20 years ago), got a pizza from AJ’s Heavenly Pizza, and headed to the park in Fostoria to have a tailgate dinner and watch the action.
After finishing dinner, an eastbound train of autoracks and vehicle frames came past the park on Norfolk Southern with BNSF power.
Shortly afterwards, an eastbound CSX train of autoracks turned north at the park. Unfortunately, I was on the wrong side of the train as a westbound intermodal rushed past on the other side.
A southbound CSX mixed freight then turned east.
Shortly afterwards, a westbound CSX train of autoracks turned north.
The eastbound signal just east of the park on NS lit up for an eastbound, which I set up for, but then CSX surprised me with an eastbound mixed freight.
A westbound CSX intermodal then came through.
I then heard a westbound coming into town, which then turned north at F Tower. As it crossed Norfolk Southern’s tracks, I could see a westbound on NS stopping in the distance to wait.
Before clearing NS, CSX ran an eastbound mixed freight through town.
