Fostoria’s “Iron Triangle” park back on track
About time!!!
It’s great to hear that they are finally getting started on the construction of the park. I make the trip to Fostoria at least twice a year and it’s a great location and town to watch trains, and to spend a few days of my vacation time. I even named one of my pet cats “Fostoria”. My other cat , which is psychotic, I should have called “Guse”.
what about locat transit opsion to get to the park
Now, if only we could still get to Fostoria by train!
A big salute to Ms. Ellen Gatrell for her tireless efforts to promote the Fostoria area and the park. Politicians and mayors may come and go but Ellen is a constant element in the project.
Lets hope they keep the park open all night. When I train watched there a lot I would many times stay until 2am.
@ Alexis Despland. Inter-city buses do not serve Fostoria (pop. ~14,000) and it has no mass transit system. However, Greyhound serves nearby Findlay, in the same county. Also, Fostoria is 40 miles south of Toledo, OH, served by Amtrak. You’d need a rental car from there. If you’ve never been to Fostoria, action at the three diamonds is a treat to watch, including some rare signal aspects.
Fostoria is always a good spot to railfan.
Until it is built, you can enjoy the railfan park just down the line at Deshler, “Crossroads of the B&O”.
I make the journey to Fostoria frequently to watch and also a member of the Fostoria Rail Preservation Society and I have to say that through the persistence of Ellen and the fellow members as well as the Fostoria city government, a dream is about to come true!!! I have to give a big shout out to the City of Fostoria for welcoming all of us rail fans with open arms. We love your town and the warm hospitality. I am so excited to see our dream become a reality!!
