Found Bachmann's ALCO 2-6-0 for cheap(preorder)

Caboose Hobbies has Bachmann’s new ALCO 2-6-0 for preorder. DCC & Sound is $102 and DCC equipped is $67. I’m ordering 2 DCC & Sound versions.

Why would you pre-order a locomotive that’s not even been manufactured yet and for which there are no reviews? Not in the model press, which one should never fully believe anyway as they are in bed with their advertisers, but more importantly no reviews on forums like this one?

It may turn out to be a dud. Then what? Not that I’d expect that from Bachmann and their upgraded Standard Line but you never know.

Why do others pre-order models from other companies? They want to get theirs as soon as possible. If it turns out to be bad, that can be taken up with Bachmann. It’s not like it ever happened to other companies. Look at what happened with Athearn over the warped trucks issue.

Not to mention split gears on the Atearn 2-8-2 and 4-6-2. [:(]

I just saw and heard one at the local shop and they are great! It has sound on just DC too.

This is an old thread. You would do better to start a new thread in the future.

They come with sound only so far. I posted the CV info in the DCC Electrical forum.

$70.00, the sellers selection of road names.

You select road name, $108.00.

It will be interesting to see if they come with the 21 pin decoder connection like the EM-1 or the 8 pin connection like previous DCC ready locos.

For $40-$50 more I just got the sound version 2-6-0, Why spend over $100 to add sound. When you can buy the whole thing sound equiped for $106 with a Soudtrax decoder.

I think the EM-1 is a whole different story. the way they are offering sound.

Truck.

Since this thread started in July, and many vendors still show it as Pre-order or Advanced reservation, I would be skeptical.

There may be a unit or two at LHS across the country, but that doesn’t mean they are ready to roll out prduction. Fortunately Bachmann usually makes plenty available on shleves once released.

I only ONCE did a pre-order, never again. 'nuff said.
