The founder of Kaydee products has his complete private collection for sale on Ebay. It includes EVERY car Kadee has made WOW. Check it out.
I notice, as of this post, there are no bids on it.

oh rats and me into N scale
Interesting, wonder if he is interested in a monthly payment plan?
Who wants to lend me $20,000 on the installment plan. $1.00 down and $20.00 a week for 20 years. LOL all the way to the bank.
Last week Sotheby’s auctioned off one of General Custer’s Guidon flags that was found at the Battle of The Little Bighorn in1876. I would have loved to bid on that, it ultimately went for $2.2 million, and I set up a payment plan lasting 500+ years and Sotheby’s was neither amused nor interested.

Gee, that is only a $20,800 payback, great interest rate you had…
While I have great respect for the founder of Kadee, and the Kadee products, I would not be interested, even if I had the spare change around to do it. Most of the cars would not fit my era, and I don’t believe in making shrines of other people’s work, no matter who they are or how good the product is. For the most part my tastes are different than his, my era is not the main era for his cars, and on and on.
Think I will pass.

Well, it’s a lot better investment that a new car, and he’s dropped the price to $18,000. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sells them as there are a lot people out there with the money to spend for this item and are willing to do it!
Makes more sense to me than Custer’s whatever for 7 digit money, or lots of other silly things I see being offered for rediculous money.
I say “more power to him” and I hope he has success in selling them.
Mark
Dale is not the founder of KaDee ,he is the co-founder with his brother Keith which is where the K in KaDee comes from.
I will admit that is a nice collection of cars, but what would you do with them? Hide them in your closet?
What do you do with them? The same thing you do with any collection, you display them?
Mark
Looks like with shipping about $45.00 per car. Wow that’s some pretty expensive freight cars. Now if you can go and pick them up its down to more reasonable $34.00 per car.
He hon let’s vacation in sunny Oregon for Xmas. Yea right.
SB
looks like shipping is $25.78 per box. and there is 24 boxes… that’s $620.88. something like that would be displayed for sure.
Got my bid in, now figuring what the cost to switch to Sergent couplers.
Before getting too enthused over this keep this in mind: if memory serves me Kadee has only been producing HO-Scale freight cars since the mid-90s.
Now if Dale Edwards were disposing of the pre-division Micro Trains® cars then this would be a horse of a completely different color!
Can i pay COD?
If my math is correct, there are 558 cars.
And how many are the “SPECIAL COLLECTOR” ones you see for 1/2 price at shows. I’ve bought their Christmas ones but I didn’t pay retail. I’ve got a number of steam era Kadee cars and they are very nice and some of my favorites.
I would bid the 18 grand in a heart beat but I have been disappointed before on eBay being outbid by others. It would be just my luck that one of you guys would bid $18,001 and take it from me at the last moment. No thanks.
Besides, after spending $2.2 million last week at that Sotheby’s auction for one of General Custer’s Guidon flags that was found at the Battle of The Little Bighorn in1876, the wife said to hold off a little before spending anymore.

Yeah. Right…LOL If you had that much money,’ you’d just bid high, sit back and enjoy the bidding. (However, you wouldn’t tell anyone what your bid was, not even your wife. ) People with bucks don’t worry about snipeware.
As having bid on a high ticket item on ebay and won it, I can tell you by talking with sellers there are lots of folks that bid on things that they don’t have the money to buy. My seller sold classic cars on ebay and he was happy that I had the money! Sellers sometimes end up paying fees anyway. The real serious stuff ends up in a private auction or with approved bidders. Then there are some guys that will bid on something to end an auction early so their like item can sell. And then they are no where to be found. And what about the shillers? One guy posted that he had been caught shilling on ebay reference a model railroad item. (Shilling is driving up the price of an auction for the seller with no intention of buying.) We asked what ebay did. He said they just suspended him from ebay for a while. I like eBay, but beware.
