Four layouts at once?

I’m about to have four layouts at once:

  • the one currently in the basement, to be de-commissioned, HO

  • the new one I’m building in the study, HO

  • the garden railway, G

  • the one I promised to build for my son, N

I need to keep an eye on this [;)]

At one time I had HO and N gauge layouts at the same time. Both of these were just track nailed to a board,no scenery. At various times during my childhood,I had O27 or S gauge layouts spread out on the living room floor.

Never had one. The layout featured on this website (no pics yet but they’re on their way) www.freewebs.com/csxlowellcountydivision is my first.

I have two (sort of) N scale layouts at once. One is a test loop hanging on the wall in the garage (lots and lots of dust on it) and the other is quickly gobbling up my spare bedroom.

Does that count? I know, I know, I’m pushing it!

The most I’ve ever had at the same time was two N scale layouts. That was back in the late 80s and early 90s. I eventually combined both of them into one big one.

building a new shunting layout now and dismantling the garage layout, both are running so I guess two!!

Ken.

As much as I love trains of all sizes, more than 20 years ago I decided to pick one and stick to it. 3 rail O is all I do. Most of the time I haven’t had a layout. Now I have one, and have no use for more than one.

I went high (9) because at one time my wife talked me into making them for her to sell at craft shows.

However more seriously 4 would probably be more accurate.

  1. O scale - nice 9’x8’ based on 101 track plans #23.
  2. N scale - 2’x8’ single track with 3 train staging and a branch for a big mine.
  3. HO scale - 4’x8’ out and back (basically my son’s)
  4. HO scale - 30"x76" special design to fit into the frame of a top bunk bed.
  5. HO scale several modules 2’x4’ and 2’x8’ for shows.
  6. G scale around the Christmas trees - not perminant.

And then of course the club…
