FRA announces $10 million in grade-crossing grants
This is pathetically small. The safety advantage of properly gated crossings is very significant – and it isn’t railroads who should pay for this, it is the users of the road network that created the problem.
Unless a fence totally blocks the crossing the stupid people of the world will continue to be stupid !!!
We should deport all those " stupid people " back to where they came from !!!
Regarding crossing collisions it seems to me that a solution would be to add two gates to the existing two which would prevent drivers who drive around the two gate system into the path of a train.It happened in Canton MI when a teen was in a hurray to drop off 4 girl friends and get to work,drove around two cars sopped at the gate into the path of an Amtrak train going 70mph,none survived.
