FRED DOLE RAYMONDALE RECREATION

As a big fan of Frank Ellison’ Delta Lines railroad, and a memeber of the Delta Lines yahoo group, I was very pleased to see Fred Doles recreation of Raymondale, in the October issue of CTT. Good job Fred, you are an inspiration to all of us. Can we see some more in future issues of CTT?

I agree, I think Frank would be proud to see his town today.

+1 on Fred’s Layout. I have a bunch of old model builders and enjoy re-reading them a great deal. I’d like to build some of the various structures as well.

What a great article and photos. Liked the Dole reefer - and the Delta Lines boxcar - does anyone know whether that was commercially produced or something Fred bought or put together himself?

Hi Doug:

Glad you liked the Raymondale story. To answer your question: the two cars are not commercially available.
I created both the Dole reefer and the Delta Lines box car and I am happy to tell you that there will be a
story in an upcoming issue of CTT showing you how I did it, so that you can create similar cars yourself.

Best,

Fred Dole

Fred:

Great job on the layout! One of the really nice “little” touches is that your structures are “rooted” in the ground rather than floating on top - very realistic and very impressive!

Best wishes,

Mike

Boy, I can’t wait for that article. Thanks, Fred! I’m keeping this issue forever.

hi Fred,

didn’t you recreate one of the Delta Lines buildings a few years ago? are these still availble?

Yes, I have available the Ob Long Box Co. from Donaldson in a 4 color printed sheet reproduced directly from
the original building. I also have a reproduction of the 1930s vintage Scalecraft station, one of which was
located on Delta Lines. Check out my website at www.fredmdole.com for details.

Best,

Fred Dole

Fred,

Thanks for a great article and thanks to CTT for printing it. Hope to see more of your layout in future issues.

Does anyone know where I could find a picture of the entire “Delta Lines” layout or its track plan?
