FRED question on ATK MHC

When Amtrak runs with MHC’s (Material Handling cars) on the rear, they usually have an End of Train device (FRED) with flashing light. Are these mounted on the coupler, as freight trains are, or are they somehow attached to the rear of the car? I’m modelling an Amtrak train and want to put a working EOT indicator on the MHC to be the last car, but not sure how it should look.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I haven’t seen any pictures which show how it is actually mounted but I haven’t seen any FRED’s mounted any other way then on the coupler. I am about 95% sure that Amtrak does the same thing. Hope this helps.

I have seen photos of a FRED mounted on a bracket about 2/3 up the back of the car. I think that they are mostly mounted on the coupler through.

Look at those net addresses for photos
