Who has built their own Freds? You know, the flashing light you see on the last car. I’ve looked everywhere for a kit to install my own but can’t find any. Can someone send me in the right direction.[:)]
Dave,
MicroElectronics Miniatronics(?) makes one of the those. I just saw it yesterday at my LHS.

Cool, I’ll look for them on the net. Thanks eh.
Here’s an inexpensive version too:

These are the one’s I’m going to be buying as soon as I scrounge up some extra dollars.

Dave,
I also did a Google search on “Fred flashers”. The following link came up but I was unable to get to it.
www.richmondcontrols.com/fred.htm
They may be having a problem with their server, or the site is down.

All Electronics sells a red 3mm LED with built in flasher that I use on my stuff – much cheaper than anything sold as a “hobby” item. I have used them in both track-powered and battery circuits with equal results.
You will need to fabricate your own mounting for one, such as a hole drilled into a small Lego block.
On one of mine, I just hid the on/off switch and AA battery under a double-stack container.
