free to a good home tons and tons of M.R., Trains and more

I have a ton or about two hundred pounds of Model Railroader, Trains and other assorted Train magazines and I dont want to throw them away so they are free to a good home all i ask is that you pick them up or pay for the shipping. Please email me if interested at chris@ultimatez.com the magazines are located in Schaumburg IL most are from the 70s to late 80s

They get pricey to ship because of weight. Hobby shops and libraries usually take them. Might even get a little store credit at a hobby shop.

I think flat rate priority mail shipping (Regardless of weight) Is 8 to ten dollars. I THINK you can get the magazines into the big box.

However, the regular Prority mail boxes are quite big enough for a few issues, I dont know how much weight 12 issues will be and how much to ship how far.

The company the wife works for has they’re main office there by you in Rolling Medows, and she goes up there once in awhile. Don’t know when the next time will be, or even when we would be able to go up that way. Most likely not till late spring or I would take them off your hands. Good luck with them, hope you find some one to take them.

I live in the far NW 'burbs of Chi-Town and my parents still live in Schaumburg so I frequent your city. I’m a newbie still trying to catch up with the changes in this hobby so I might be able to learn something from these older mags. I don’t think I could read all those but perhaps one or two months/year (like Oct & Apr) of MR would give me a descent historical persceptive on the changes in this hobby, while still leaving plenty for others who may be interested. Thanks in advance for the offer. (e-mail sent)

Ever think of donating them to a school?

Maybe a Junior High or High School?

You can get a tax credit that way too.

Maybe not much, but something anyway?

A library might take them also, or ask them to offer them FREE to kids who are interested who visit the library.

Just an idea.

Good luck!

I thank you,Chris in advance for offer. I have sent you an email, Will pay for shipping of Mrr to me when I know total weight of said magazines. this will fill my gap in said magazine.

You can use Priority Mail and get the box free from the post office, the books fit into it perfectly, about 20 books give or take a couple. It’s $8.10 or $8.20 - and you can ship up to 75 pounds in that box. You can only use that box for the Priority Mail not your own.

Offering them for free like you did was a good idea. Now tell everyone that responds to your offer that they’re theirs, then set an identical day and time for them all to come by and pick them up and they’ll all show up at the same time, get in a big fight with each other over it all and the winner will get to take all the stuff home… I know, I know. I’m just full of great ideas like that.

I sent you a email from my Yahoo! account about what you may have left.

USPS has a class called “Media Mail”. Check the rate as it is sirt cheap for heavy printed materials like magazines and books.

Has anyone progressed forward on this situation? I am not recieving any answers to emails asking about how many magazines will fit a 20 dollar UPS Shipping rate.

If anyone actually recieved magazines, please let us know how many you got and how much was the shipping?
