Anything goes on here. Some have such limited appeal that they might require a 3-D print job.
A Baldwin’s favorite place — in the backshop. This one has all the roof hatches removed so there’s some intense engine work in progress.

There was the Trains Tower. It died amid a hail of flags. Resurrected as 2.0… same. Then 3.0. Then someone tried using ‘cabin’ instead of ‘tower’ to stave off disappearance… no dope.
We’re up to version 5.0 now… ![]()
I think as long as we stick to rail themes - locomotives, coaches etc. - there should be no flagging or locking down.
Is that Beech Grove, Collinwood or somewhere else?
I’m watching to see how it pans out.
On the preservation and operation of 1st generation diesel power front both Santa Fe 347 C and B are undergoing a full operational restoration in California. So someday we might get to see a true warbonnet F unit pulling a train again.
Cool, Harold. The first HO train engine I saw was in a a SF Athearn F-7 in passenger warbonnet in a neighbor’s basement. I got the bug.
Collinwood at the ‘front’ part of the shop that was added on in the late '30s. It generally faced E. 152nd. St. and had a transfer table along the shop tracks.

I suspect it was the concept of “no flagging allowed” that got the other 4 derailed.
My favorite bridge is B and O #463.
The theme is first generation diesels.
Flavor of the day - days change. so do flavors
It seems to be impossible to try to be friendly with some people.
Whatever floats your boat.
So, although the diesel that got me interested in HO was a ATSF warbonnet F-7, my first was a B&O Athearn hi-fi drive F-7.
For me it was having the BN line through Bushnell Illinois literally running right behind my backyard as I was a toddler. Then when my family moved to Streator Illinois in 777we had the Conrail line to Hennepin right there. More than once in the mid 80s if that crew going to Hennepin was doing a quick turnaround at the mill I got a cab ride. A few times in the early 90s when I was in high-school the engineer even let me have the throttle. There’s no way in hades that happens today.
I never really got into the model stuff (I tinkered a few times, bought more than a few times) but I now run trains through the town I watched trains run through as a kid. Got to work with a few of the old heads that ran those trains I watched as a kid (those guys are all now retired).
Even found out my dad who took me to watch trains used to hang out and talk to another guy that hung out and watched trains, and that guy is the dad of another engineer I work with.
Small world sometimes.
Generations of railroaders and watchers.
Yes but anyone can switch. Which railroad is the Alco?
Green Mountain /Vermont Rail RS1.
Back many years ago when they ran the passenger ops out of Bellows Falls.
Photo was at Chester, VT, I believe.
