freight cars

I do not like when ex-club member tells me that I can not run certain freight cars.he was a member at one time and he left when I would run certain freight cars. Thank you ace24

Ok…?

Sounds like this is your first post.

How about an introduction?

Why would you tell us about your problem with a club member who is now an ex?

What’s the deal???

now we have a permanent full moon.

Where’s Paul Harvey when you need him…

Maybe…he felt those particular ones were “CAR- cinogenic” to him??? LOL Cedarwoodron

He doesn’t like your Tyco freight cars on the club layout? Wonder why…

Oh the weather outside is freightful. But the layout is so delightful. Since we’ve no place to go. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Maybe this guy’s an “Ex-member” from trying to demand everyone listen to his “way”. So now he’s gone- why aren’t you running whatever you like? I would have just said “Kiss my Caboose!”

Aw, guys we shouldn’t pick at him, he might go away!

He has a right to vent his frustration as well as anybody! Hence the " [soapbox] " on the smileys here !!!

Now, Mr, Ace, Some clubs have certain rules about what can and cannot be run at the club. For instance, some clubs may be D& H based, and therefore would only run what would be D&H equipment or found on a D&H railroad through interchange.

Is that your problem?

Or is it that you DO have, say, Tyco or Bachmann cars and they are not allowed? Or that don’t have knuckle couplers, say?

Or is it that your cars are out of era?

Personally, if the guy was a member, then quit, and came back, I would tell him in no uncertain terms “the rules have changed since you left”, I can run what I wanna."

If you are out voted by other members, too, then I would leave the club. Many clubs are staunch in their support for certian equipement or stock or liveries or eras… and nothing else is allowed!

Does that help you any?

I run atlas and athearn freight cars.I was running front runnings and coal hoppers and 89’ foot auto carriers when the ex member said that I could run them.

Are 100% sure about , did you tell him you did not ask for his opinion, ideas or thoughts on the subject. Tell him to prove to you that you can’t run your freight cars. Does he have a legal list of do’s and don’t’s for running freight cars. LOL

We have one guy in our modular group that loves to set his 2 or 3 trains on a loop (sometimes he puts a train on each loop) start them up and walk away to talk to people. Many rear end collisions happen if he doesn’t hear us yelling his name, sometimes his slightly derailed cars sideswipe other trains (an he runs the nice Rapido coaches).

We kind of joke about it; no one gets mad. I’ve learned to try and fill up one of the loops with 2 or 3 trains and keep him off ‘my’ main but it seems he always sneaks one on there.

It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round! Life is too short to get that upset over an enjoyable hobby (since this is a modular club, my finest models are left at home once they get tested; I don’t have a large loop to run on at home).

Come on! Can’t some of you guys be just a tad more friendly to a new person to this forum?

Sorry that you’ve had to start out by seeing the ugly underbelly of the Model Railroader Forums, Ace24!

My layout. My rules. Club layput, club rules. This is why I am not a member of any clubs.

Sounds like the average club freight train to me…

Shoot we have one member that runs every era together in one train…

No big deal to us…He pays his dues and is free to run whatever he likes.

We had one guy that was still using horn hooks.[:O]

I like to slip in a Central Valley truss rod box car in between the auto racks.

I was in a club that allowed anything to be run most of the time, but for some meets set restrictions. For one meet a specific time period was specified. I was told that the Western Pacific “Distribution Dividend” auto parts box car I wanted to run didn’t exist during that time period. I knew they were wrong, but didn’t run the car. At the next meeting I brought in documentation that it entered service over a year before the specified ending date.

Lovely! That’s spreading the “gospel” of all things railroad.

This sounds silly to me…

If a club has rules on what can be run, then if the OP is within those rules, all is well. If he is outside those rules, then he needs to be corrected. And as someone alluded to… if you don’t like the rules, leave - or work to get them changed.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m a lone wolf MR…
