I enjoy most of the articles very much. Keep the trains coming!

The trick for the frieght railroads will be the same trick for the trucking industry. Finding dependable and clean people willing to work the long and odd hours. A few year ago I read an article about how 50% of Americans are disqualified because of health issues (can’t pass a drug test). Of those remaining, most are either untrainable or are unwilling to work the hours and can’t be counted on as dependable and responsible.

Looking for a railroad job? If you get called to a hiring session, or interview. Don’t mention your a railfan. Keep to yourself, and play stupid.

So that also includes you Guse, right??? (disqualified because of health issues, untrainable, can’t be counted on as dependable and responsible).

National Labor College listed at goodsearch.com .

Yep-hire 11,000 and after they mark-up furlough 10,995 of them.

Tell that to the employees that have been furloughed in the last 30 days!

Don’t bash Guse too bad, he’s right, it’s very difficult right now, however the best resource are vets, as far as rail fans sorry to say but my personal experience shows them not to make good railroaders.

Bill N that is not far from the truth, my terminal has just posted 16 job openings for conductor while there are 30 furloughed which half will not come back, wasted money for company, wasted time for people.
