I got the IHC freight station and the directions suggest not gluing the roof on and leave it off so you can see a scratch build the interior.
Anyone have a source for pictures or plans of freight stations to give me some ideas?

depending on which protype you model there will be some slight discfferences. some things you can apretty much alwys assume is that there will be a large warehousing area, a office or two and maybe a waiting room. freight depot are pretty utilitarian buildings and a lot ofRR didnt bother too much with design, unlike passenger station
The best I can do is a blueprint for a small passenger station.
Maybe it’ll help some?

Here’s a few exterior/interior pictures of one of my freight houses:

I added the partition, the sliding channel for the front and back doors, the wooden floor planks, and the inside wall and window trim.
I still need/want to add crates and boxes for the warehouse, as well as furniture and a pot belly stove for the office area. With the roof removable, I should be able to add wiring so that I can have both interior and exterior lights on the freight house, too.

Have you tried looking up a local historical society or something? There is one near my home that is actually based (kind of…) in the local train station. Granted this was a passenger/all purpose type station, but it is pretty fun to look through the stuff they have there… now if i could only find someone who is really knowledgeable about it so I could pick their brain for info…
