Does anyone know how I can get a schedule for the freight trains in northeast Ohio?
With railroads presently concerned with the threat of terrorism or potential sabotage, you’ll be lucky if you can get this information from any source.
What line in Northern Ohio are you looking for?
Railroads do not schedule trains per say. They often run around the same time in the same manner day to day, but there is very rarely a cut and dry schedule besides what the dispatcher feels like doing that particular day.
However, many sites provide general information as to when you can expect traffic. Google is your best friend.
There’s a couple of things you can try. 1. Write a nice letter to the Railroad company, tell them you are an avid railroader modeling their particular railroad, and ask them if they may have any old time tables laying around that they can send to you. 2. The other thing you can do is make friends with a railroad worker and ask him / her if you can have one of their old copies of their timetables.
Either way, it’s worth a try. I’m lucky because members of my family are railroad workers and they have given me a few old SP and UP timetable copies over the years.
