Hello- I seem to recall once seeing a photo of a French electric locomotive that closely resembled the Pennsylvania RR P5A. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to locate a photo of those French locomotives. Am I wrong? Can anyone help me clear this up, please. Richard W.
Are you talking about the original end cab design or the modified streamlined centre cab version?
I don’t recall anything like the rebuilt design although there were quite a few centre cab electrics they had trucks and a lower nose, but the original design was similar to many early French German, Swiss and Italian electrics. The French DC 5000 class (http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/fr/electric/dc/5000/pix.html) is pretty similar, but with an extra set of wheels
Tim
Hi Talltim- I should have mentioned that it was the streamlined version of the Pennsy P5a that I was interested in. There was an O-gauge toy locomotive, by BLZ, that closely resembled the P5a, and I was interested in knowing its geneology. The photo shows the BLZ loco. Note the portholes! Regards- Richard
The model you’ve posted appears to be based on the BB12000/BB13000/CC14000 series locos of the SNCF.
Cheers,
Mark.
