French TV documentary

I am a French television director currently under contract with Canal + to produce a 52 minutes documentary about model railroading. This film is scheduled to air this coming December on Canal + and Planète in France.

In the following months, all the Canal + affiliates in Germany, Italy, Belgium and Poland will also broadcast it. Should you need more information about Canal +, please feel free to connect to the network website at www.canalplus.fr.

The goal of this documentary is to portray the world of model railroading all over the planet.

We’re at the end of our shooting schedule. We have traveled to Germany,
UK, Belgium, Japan and France to film collectors, builders, manufacturers, club members and dealers of railroad models.

We’re now researching a US segment. So far, we’ve decided to film a collector / merchant in New Jersey and the Northlandz layout.

We’re now looking for a club which would be very active as a club and would also have an interesting and different angle to its approach of model railroading.

We’re looking for clubs on the East coast which would fit in the following categories :

1- a club putting a lot of emphasize on technological advances like computerized remote control of engines, switches and signals

2- a club geared towards implementing a very economically realistic operations scenario (for example having loads travelling the way they would in real life with realistic loadind/unloading points, realistic documentation attached to the load, etc…).

If you know of clubs fitting this description please feel free to get back to me ASAP. I will travel to NYC with my crew a week from now.

The shooting would take a couple of hours (interviews with club members, filming of the lay out with club members working or experimenting with it, etc…)

Thank you for your help

I would contact the editor at Railroad Model Craftsman and see what he would recommend since they are located in New Jersey.

Not all that close to NY City but in New York State (Troy) is the NEB&W at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The RPI layout is an excellent suggestion and is actually only 21/2 hr drive from NYC straight up Interstate 87.

What is going on here? Got sucked into another one!!![zzz]
