I nearly completely scrapped my previous plan and started over using a lot of the advice and encouragement many of you have given me. So far I think that things are going better. Although I have not been able to put in any kind of return loops as I had wanted, but I think after thinking about this a lot over the last several days, I will be just fine with that. I have been able to add a passenger terminal which I am hoping will work well with my plan.
Those of you that might have been following my progress if you would like I will post a picture of the layout once I have the whole plan complete. Plus I will be able then to get all of you opinions and advice on some changes that I am sure I will need to make.
Once again for all of the encouragement and advice many of you have given me. I hope that I have finally taken that next step to starting my layout.[:D]

Well let me give you a few answers and then I will finish my track plan and reread Chapter 7 as you suggest, see if there is anything I need to change and then get a picture of the plan posted on here so I can begin to get some great advice from you all and really start to get things going.
I am modeling HO. The Length of the room goes east/west with the door about 8 feet from the west wall on the south side. The room is in a basement, and there is one support post on the south wall just a foot or so just east of the door and about a foot or so from the wall, and there is one drain line in the far north east corner. There is a beam and a heat duct in the middle of the room. Once again the east end of the area is another room that completes the space. Going through the wall will not be a problem. There is only one outlet at the moment but I will correct that. I was thinking that I would mount the outlets directly to the benchwork. I think that is about it for now anyway.
